 ISIS claimed responsibility for the assassination of prominent Shi'ite cleric ,Sheikh Farhan Hassan al-Mansour, of the Sayyidah Zaynab shrine. The vehicle he was traveling in near the Safir Al-Zahra Hotel area surrounding the shrine blew up on May1, 2026

ISIS labeled Monsour one of the“imams of the Rafida” which is a derogatory term used to refer to Shi'ites.
