Philly Chicago DC- Leadfootin

In honor of Mayor Lori Lightfoot's clampdown on Halloween, I'm rolling out a new entry. Plenty of data at the old blog entry Philly Chitown DC  . Philly's 2020 murder rate is not far behind number 1 Chicago. Maybe nixing Halloween will be Philly's answer, too. Take a guess at what ex-Mayor Richard Daley is screaming from his grave.

DoJ sides with Capitol Hill Baptist Church in its lawsuit against DC and Mayor Bowser in which it accuses the city of favoring “certain expressive gatherings over others,” and urges the judge to allow it to have a large Sunday service. It argues there is no constitutional or statutory basis for allowing protests to occur but not large religious services.

#Obama is heading to Philly to campaign for Biden. Didn't he do the same thing in late October 2016 for for Hillary? Is the DNC using the same playbook?

Pennsylvania Covid restrictions limits attendance at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia to less than 10,000 people, which wouldn't allow the entire Corps of Cadets and Brigade of Midshipmen to attend. The Dec 12, 2020 Army-Navy game will be played at Michie Stadium in Westpoint. The last time they played there was in 1943.

I guess we should be immune to these  headlines :Chicago shootings, 15 shot, 3, fatally, in weekend gun violence . Obviously Chicago's Mayor "Leadfoot" is.

Attempted carjackings in Chicago reached a 20-year high in 2020. Thanks, Mayor Leadfoot!

Carjacking "fun" in Philly: 2019 : 225 carjackings,  2020 there were 410, and in 2021, 28 so far.

#tawanamoody , a civilian and a local religious minister, will be running the Jersey City PD . Here's Mayor Fulop's main reason for the appointment: “Not having a uniformed officer, with biases and relationships of being that uniformed officer for the last 20 or 30 years, is going to ultimately help this city move forward.” .
Yes , there are some negatives that come with long-term job experience, but the Mayor seems to be wary of  having a man or woman as Chief who knows what to do, based on experience in uniform.
Next step , watch the Philly or DC  mayor try a similar move.

Mayor #LoriLightfoot wants to set aside about half of the $1.9 billion the city of Chicago expects to get from the American Rescue Plan signed by President Biden to pay off the high-interest debt the city incurred to balance its 2020 and 2021 budgets.  As many of us expected,  the "Covid" bill was about  rewarding bad spending habits.

Can Mayor Leadfoot derail the Bears' hopes of breaking its lease with Solider Field that runs through 2033,  and moving to Arlington Heights, a suburb of Chicago?

Checking in with Leadfoot:  16 killed, over 100+ shot , during the July 4th weekend in Chicago

While the Chicago Police Union is battling Leadfoot's  vaccine mandate in court,  a Seargent with the Indiana State Patrol  tweeted this: "Hey Chicago Police Officers, we're hiring! No vaccine mandate."

Chicago Tribune article that caught my eyes: Black population continues to drop in Chicago and Illinois. They chose to move to nearby states Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa, and few regret their move: ‘I have peace’

Yes, I'm stunned that Mayor Leadfoot is bucking the CTU, and wants Chicago schools re-opened.
Then I kept reading more news about Illinois and hope all those anti-cop screamers who want social workers doing police work notice this sad story:  Deidre Silas, 36, an investigator with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, was stabbed to death while checking on a report of a child in danger Tuesday at a home in Thayer IL.

Just a reminder to all those who think unarmed folks can deter armed criminals. A 60-year-old man was shot after yelling at two men as they robbed a woman of her purse at gunpoint on the 5900 block of North Glenwood Avenue in the North Side of Chi-town. The lady is ok and the crooks who took her purse are free.

Here we go again: Jonathan Jackson, son of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, entered the race for Bobby Rush’s Illinois congressional seat. He's a leader in his father's Rainbow/PUSH Coalition. Jonathan's brother, Jesse Jr, resigned from Congress in 2012 and later served time in prison for wire and mail fraud.

It's got my head spinning and I'm not a cop. Some ideas on police foot chases under consideration in Chicago that always follow with a note THAT we are not trying to hinder law enforcement:
1) should only be initiated, per the draft policy, if the need to detain the person outweighs the risk to the public and the officer.
2) LEOS should not be chasing someone unless they are absolutely sure they are going to arrest someone.
3)  running away alone is not a reason to chase a person.
4) LEOS can chase someone if they were believed to have committed certain misdemeanors such as aggravated assault and battery but cannot chase someone believed to have committed lower-level misdemeanors such as simple assault or criminal trespassing to land.

Mayor Leadfoot  announced that the list ofChicago casino bidders has been cut to three : River West, South Loop, and next to Soldier Field. If the finalist is the casino near Soldier Field, I wonder if NFL commentators will say on the air "and over there is the casino."

Leadfooot is dragging her feet naming a replacement for Patrick Daley Thompson, a member of the Daley political clan and a former 11th Ward alderman who was convicted of felony tax fraud last month and ordered to vacate his position. Part of the problem is the 11th Ward is nearly a majority Asian ward, and there is pressure to name an Asian American to fill the slot.
March 29, 2022
Nicole Lee, an Asian-American woman, is the new 11th Ward alderman.  Her bankruptcy plea in 2017 was rejected, and she was forced to pay her debts
Her father is Gene Lee,  who was a top mayoral aide for Richard M. Daley and was also convicted in 2014 of stealing from charities. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Pot is legal in Illinois, but its cannabis market is restricted by law to 21 licensed growers. And now there's a federal lawsuit alleging cannabis companies of running a “Chicago cartel” that colludes to keep prices high in Illinois.

Leadfoot is on her way to Europe to promote Chicago after losing two major corporations: Boeing is taking its headquarters elsewhere, and hedge fund Citadel is moving to Miami.
July 19, 2022
Leadfoot is up for re-election but must've skipped math class in her youth. She claims she'll “make sure there isn’t a significant burden” on Chicago property owners as the city prepares a budget that will include property taxes tied to inflation. Then whines “nobody could’ve anticipated what the consequences of inflation that we’re seeing here this year, but we’ve started a discussion internally with our finance team."
Reality bites again!!!!!!!

I thought Baltimore City had a bad prosecutor, but Cook County(IL) State’s Attorney Kim Foxx appears to be worse and is having a hard time keeping up with prosecutors leaving her office. Maybe she should resign and become a defense attorney since she more concerned with protecting criminals.

Last week a Cook County judge issued a temporary restraining order against FOP President John Catanzara, prohibiting him from making public statements that encourage members not to report their COVID-19 vaccine status to the city of Chicago.  Can you imagine the outrage if they did this to the head of any other public sector union?

Chicago: 3,561 shooting incidents in 2021, which is just over 300 more than were recorded in 2020 and a s 1,415 more than in 2019. However, Leadfoot has no problem telling McDonalds CEO that he needs to educate himself when he warns of rising crime in Chicago.

Checking in on Naperville, Illinois, a town not far from Chicago where my nephew resides. North Central College, a Naperville-based team, recovered an onside kick against Mount Union in the fourth quarter of Friday night’s Division III championship game on its way to winning the title.

Judge Cunnington of Kankakee County agreed with the prosecutors’ argument that the state legislature violated the separation of powers component of the Illinois Constitution when it passed a measure eliminating cash bail which interferes with the duties of the judiciary. His ruling affects only the pretrial release provisions of the law, leaving all other measures of what is known as the SAFE-T Act intact.

Norfolk Southern touts benefits its expansion will bring to Englewood, ILL, but residents and contractors reject the railroad's promises. Former Mayor Rahm Emauel and current Mayor Lightfoot support the expansion, Here's one issue:
“I was there the day they literally brought a moving truck, a bulldozer, and cops to move that family out,” Alderman Taylor .

Norfolk Southern: Over a four year period, the owner, Ms. Edwards refused to access moving benefits, refused to engage in dialogue with us on trying to reach a resolution, and refused to vacate the property despite the court order.

Circuit Court Judge Joshua Morrison ruled plaintiffs are likely to succeed on the merits of their claim that legislative rules were circumvented, and temporarily blocked an Illinois ban on semiautomatic gun sales. Insurance codes were abruptly stripped of their contents and used as a shell for the gun measure bill, without hearings on it.

Leadfoot, the new Jane Byrne, loses in Chicago. I'm unsure if either Vallas or Johnson will be much better. Lightfoot became the first full-term incumbent Chicago Mayor to fail to win reelection since Jane Byrne lost to Harold Washington in 1983.

School-related threats are referred to as swatting threats — prank calls that attempt to draw a swarm of police officers to a location. Not sure why it's called swatting, but the FBI claims this type of threat is rising in the Chicago area.

The Chicago Mayoral candidates, Johnson and Vallas, agree on decrying Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s deal to bring a NASCAR race to Chicago this summer. The power of sports.
