Disarm Colt 45s, road Ravens

Briefs on the Colt 45s
Yep, an MLB team had guns in it's logo.

All the FA chatter buried a big headline . The NFL did not get it's way. The  Bucked up O's could be in the playoff hunt so why the NFL thought they were going  to alter the O's plan is just another notch on their belt of arrogance. OPACY (O's stadium) and M&T (Ravens stadium) are about a five-minute walk apart.

"As such, the Orioles will play the White Sox on Sept. 5 at 7 p.m., and the Ravens will open the season on the road, instead of the recently traditional Thursday game."

"Since 2002, the defending Super Bowl champion has hosted the NFL Kickoff Game, which is usually held on a Thursday night."  corrected this in 9/5/13 edit

And then the MLB proves they can be every bit as arrogant by opening the season attempting to create a new intrastate , ALW rivalry between the Texas Rangers & the lowly Houston Astros, the new kid on the ALW block. Could you imagine the headlines if this were the early 1960's? Rangers attempt to disarm the Colt 45's. Wait, the Rangers were the second Washington Senators in the 1960's. Original Senators moved to Minnesota in 1960.

Senators disarm Colt 45's. I don't see ESPN hyping it that way. :D Is Sen Diane Feinstein throwing out the first safety lock? ;)

The federal gun grab legislation is on the back burner.

Astros had a 6 game winning streak snapped by the O's last week.

O's remain in the playoff hunt.

Ravens released Vonta Leach--odd move.

8/13/13

Ravens lucked out that Leach was surprising still a free agent and they signed him about two weeks ago.

9/5/13

Ravens will win on the road. Here's a Billick 2012 quote: "The league inaugurated the Kickoff Game concept (opening the season on the Thursday night after Labor Day) in 2002, and settled on its present incarnation — the defending Super Bowl champions playing at home —in 2004"  link

10/23/13
I was WRONG about the Ravens winning  GM1 on the road. As week 8 approaches. Coach Hairball needs to inspire the troops. They lost look lost in all phases of the game. Eugene Monroe, the OT acquired from the Jags  has some fire in the belly.

Ravens accept 130, 000 to promote Obama care (Washington Examiner) . That should be a PR nightmare

11/05/13
Ugly loss in Cleveland. Did the Ravens lose too much talent in the off-season?
Paul Kruger is doing Ok in Cleveland.

11/20/13

Ed Reed returns to M&T in Jets colors this Sunday

11/28/13
Ravens /Steelers, a Thanksgiving night tie? We'll see.

12/28/13

do or die tomorrow for the reigning champs

1/16/14
Was Caldwell  getting fired  by the Ravens  before getting the HC job in Detroit?

2/7/14
Wonder if Ed Reed comes up in a conversation between new OC Kubiak and Hc Harbaugh.
2/17/14
Ray Rice arrested - I'm surprised- altercation with his fiancee

7/25/14
Seven months later and Rice is suspended for two 2014 games.  Goodell's decisiion took too long, and I'm guessing Rice's lawyers had footage that we'll never see. probably enough to warrant no suspension. Issues inside a relationship are always complex, and then you toss  inebriation into the mix. If you  say the punishment was suitable then somehow you condone beating woman. The outrage is excessive. Move on. Ray's wife has.

7/28/14
Reports claim Ray's wife appealed to Goodell foir leniency- be careful judging so quickly

8/1/14
Watching some sports radio this morning and they're spending more time on Ray Rice than the baseball deadline trades. ESPN and CBSSN  have been Oprahfried

10/28/14

Wives and girlfriends will withdraw thie criminal complaints when their man's career is at stake. In the NHL Ms Voynov, wife of an LA King has.

12/1/14
maybe it's time  some of the public & press let the Rice family move on.

1/3/15
The focus is on the 2014/15 playoffs but is Kubiak off to another head coach gig in 2015?

1/16/15
Rice and Ravens have settled. I wonder if and where he lands in the NFL next season.

2/18/15
Does Rice land with Rex Ryan in Buffalo?

3/3/15
Kubiak in Denver, will he trade for Andre Johnson

3/24/15

If Thuggs or Flacco had received a DUI would the Ravens have cut them? Pierce hasn't been producing, and the Ravens found an easy out.

6/1/15
Ray Rice  is proof that video kills. How else can one explain Hardy & McDonald (who blew it) getting second chance , and  Ray not.

6/16/15
This blog veers everywhere. Colt 45  going under.Colt Defense LLC-bankrupt
Gun maker Colt Defense LLC said late Sunday it is filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy-court protection, amid business-execution issues and a heavy debt burden.

7/11/15
Greg Hardy suspension reduced to four games. Ray Rice must be saying WTF, Tom Brady, too.

9/25/15
Headline from June 16 link about gunmaker: Colt Defense bankrupt could be used for the 2015 NFL Colts.
9/27/15
Will the Ravens look at Ray Rice? Just felt like stirring the pot after the Ravens anemic rushing game today

10/06/15
The Astros  wear Colt45 throwback unis for tonight's playin game- won't happen but it would set the Twitter world ablaze.

10/12/15
Ravens D has been disarmed, destroyed, etc. you get the point.
11/3/15
Since 1984, I enjoy a Colts defeat. Camthers 26 Indy Colts 23 OT
2/8/16
Quite a trek for Kubiak to a SB ring as the head coach.
2/27/16
How often has an NFL team put a franchise tag on its kicker? Ravens put the the tag on Justin Tucker
6/10/16
Too many Hairballs in the  news. John for violating NFL pre-season rules, Jim for self promotion
9/1/16
When I started this  blog entry Paul Kruger had left the  Ravens for the Browns , and yesterday he signed with my Saints.Hope he's got something left cuz the Saints D needs all the help it can get.
9/23/16
Possible headlines from last night: #Patriots disarm #Texans. #Osweiler shoots blanks.  NE 27 Hou 0
10/25/16
Osweiler and the #houstontexans shot blanks with no TDs against Denver.  #HoustonCougars lost to SMU and are  fading in the #AAC.  rough weekend for houston football teams.
And the Ravens wilted in New Jersey.
12/29/16
Maybe it could occur only in Texas , but the Astros wore throwback jerseys,  that included a pistol below the name Colts, for a few games in April, 2012.  #BudSelig , then the MLB commisioner, was not happy. link with Colt45 jersey
5/27/17.
I 'll continue to veer this blog all over the sports road. #HoustonAstros (33-16) , once, the #Colt45 s, ain't shooting blanks this season.
10/7/17
#astros , once the #colt45s , ain't shooting blanks this post season
11/2/17
Congrats to the #Astros, once known as the #Colt45s. The history revisionists haven't wiped that away...yet.
1/22/18
Love to see a repeat of this in April 2018: Astros wore throwback jerseys,  that included a pistol below the name Colts, for a few games in April, 2012. #colt45
2/16/20
Hey #HoustonAstros : Find a can of Colt45 malt liquor, sip on it, and shut up!
3/27/20
Jimmy Wynn, "The Toy Cannon" died last night at age 78 last night. I had his baseball card. He played for the Astros from 1963-73

Former Ravens HC #BrianBillick joins Herm Edwards Arizona State’s staff as an analyst on offense. He'll also be working with his former Ravens DC and later Bengals HC, Marvin Lewis.
June 23, 2022
Tony Siragusa, former Raven's DT died at 55.
Jaylon Ferguson, the 26 year old Ravens LB, was found dead in his residence and investigators are not ruling out the possibility of an overdose. Ferguson played college ball at La Tech(CUSA).
Oct 9, 2022
Starting to wonder if Billick is having more of an influence after Herm was fired.  ASU has a decent running attack, and they upset UW 45-38 yesterday. BTW, Tom Herman is being chatted about to take over in 2023.
April 18, 2023
Hurts gets 179M of 255M guaranteed from Philly. Will this change LJAX's  negotiations with the Ravens?
And did Dillingham keep Billick as a consultant at ASU?
April 14, 2024
Arizona State returns to hiring ex NFL assistants with the addition of Hines Ward as wide receivers coach.

He coached the XFL’s San Antonio Brahmas in 2023. His resume:  worked with the receivers at FAU in 2021 and serving as an offensive assistant with the NYJ(NFL) in 2019 and ’20.

  1. The MLB season has to start sometime. Selig's strongarming of the Astros into the ALW should not be held against them. If they beat Texas tonight they will, at least for one brief moment, be the best team in baseball.

  2. SL- Funny "brief moment" comment. Selig is the ass in this move, but the Astros need to be held accountable for plenty of other things.

    4. I'm not a fan of Petey O, but MLB makes the schedule and can't be expected to know who's going to win the Super Bowl

    5. john h- Agree two stadiums is an extravagant thing. Disagree that the NFL should supercede MLB.
