Belarus gets worse. Sergei Tikhanovsky, a one-time presidential hopeful who was arrested several months before last year’s disputed presidential election, was sentenced to 18 years for organizing mass riots, etc. His wife Svetlana ran in his place, and many said she beat the crowned winner Lukashenko.  #ergodan is all over the world news  while ignoring his  receding popularity at home in Turkey. He's pushing lasting peace on ethnically divided Cyprus is through the international community’s acceptance of two separate states which the EU opposes. Also, Greek Cypriots object to Turkey's demand for a permanent military presence on the island because it would likely turn the island into Ankara's “protectorate".

Next he expects the USA to meet "conditions" which include financial, logistical, and diplomatic support, so that Turkey can run and guard Kabul's airport while other foreign troops leave Afghanistan.

Veysi Eski, a lawyer for Guzel, said

Tito marches onward in 2020

 Bulgaria blocked  the Republic of North Macedonia’s EU Accession yesterday, in part because it does not recognize their language as Macedonian and suggests it's a dialect of Bulgarian .

 This can be linked back to strong feelings in the area that the Macedonian nation and language was engineered by Yugoslavian communists in the late 1940’s to legitimize Marshal Tito’s claims over the northern Greek province of Macedonia, and to also weaken demands for unification with Bulgaria.

Since removing statues is all the rage, Russia and Czechoslovakia are in a tit for tat game of expelling diplomats that can be traced back to the removal in March, 2020 of a statue of Russian General Konev ,who helped to liberate Czech Republic from the Nazis in 1945, but also led the Russian invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. The statue was put in storage and may later be placed in a museum. Maybe the Czechs should give the statue back to Russia, its ruler from 1948-1990.
